Talking to media persons Chief, Anti-corruption Bureau (ACB) Haryana Shatrujit Kapoor said that on the directions by Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khatter action has been taken against all government employees including officers involved in corruption and during recent past sometime trapped as many as 68 employees including few senior officers while accepting bribe and registered 46 cases against them which include maximum number of 13 cases of corruption against employees of police department in the state.
Among other government employees arrested while accepting bribe include 4 cases registered against employees of state Revenue Department, 3 employees each from the departments of Urban Local Body, Haryana State Electricity Board, Public Health, 2 employees arrested each while accepting bribe from the department of Haryana State Industrial Development Corporation, Food & Supply, Consumer Affairs, Education, Haryana Agriculture Board, Haryana Urban Development Authority, Excise & Taxation, Home Guard, Forests and Jails. Anti-corruption Chief told that among those arrested while taking bribe and facing corruption cases registered against them include several senior officers accepted bribe worth lakhs of rupees and maximum number of them were police officers, Patwaris and clerical staff working in government offices. There was a long list of corrupt government employees along wth their names provided by the Anti-corruption Bureau which is, however, not being released here.
Past scenario also reveals that large number of contractors engaged by the department of PWD (B&R) to complete development of large number of projects in the state used sub-standard construction material or collected amount of their bills without making supplies are also facing corruption charges against them in the courts causing heavy loss to the government since most the projects are left in-between incomplete due to the reason the cases against such corrupt contractors are yet under trial in courts. Information reveals that Haryana state government taking stern action against such contractors.
Haryana state government has also launched a massive drive against increasing drug smuggling and sale in the state as such has demolished large number of properties of such drug smugglers in recent past some time, besides attached the properties of value worth Rs 38 crore belonging to the drug smugglers. There are still large numbers of such illegal buildings constructed by the drug smugglers on encroached land which are on the radar of State Narcotic Control Bureau in the state yet to be demolished or attached by the government.
