Action against industries in Haryana using underground water without permission

According to recent notification by Haryana state government use of underground water by private industries in the state without obtaining permission from Haryana Water Management Authority will be treated illegal and action will be taken against such units with fine. Information reveals that there are nearly 25000 industrial units in Haryana state registered with State Pollution Control Board observing measures to control pollution, out of these hardly 2500 industrial units has taken permission from the government to use water procured from underground.

Keshni Anand Arora Chairperson Haryana Water Management Board told that a campaign has been started against those industrial units in the state collecting underground water with the help of submersible pump or manually for use in the industry without obtaining permission from Board. She told that Deputy Commissioners of all districts in the state have been directed to take stern action against those units found violating directions by enforcement officers deployed in every district in the state.

Information also reveals, out of total number of 142 blocks in Haryana state underground water level has been found fast declining in 85 blocks in the state which is a matter of deep concern for residents. State government Haryana has a plan to develop water management project in educational institutes as well as in rural areas having acute shortage of water and install water treatment plants to re-use sewerage as well as waste water, especially in Mohindergarh and Charkhi Dadri districts facing extremely severe drop in underground water level having alarming situation. A water sewerage treatment station has been set up at Gurugram in the state for re-use waste as well as rain water.
