Acute shortage of doctors in government hospitals in Haryana

Doctors as well as para medical staff working in government hospitals  in Haryana state has played important role in saving the life of patients suffering from Corona in past several months and saving their lives in which several doctors, nurses and other staff members had to lost their lives. Not only in Haryana state but government hospitals all over in the contry suffering from of doctors in government hospitals. There were four medical colleges in Haryana state till year 2014 but ruling government in the state succeeded in setting up another six medical colleges in the state either started functioning or near to completion..

According to information, there are only 3000 doctors against 2.75 crore population in Haryana state which is too less since as per World Health Organization (WHO) formulae there should be a doctor on 1000 persons and on the information during last year report revealed that there is a single doctor on 1445 patients in the hospitals in spite of all efforts to appoint more doctors on improved salary package in government hospitals in the state. During corona epidemic outbreak state government made efforts to appoint 700 doctors but hardly 50% doctors offered jobs joined duties. Since doctors prefer to prefer to serve in private hospitals due to safe and stable career in private hospitals. Former director Haryana Health Department B.S. Bishnoi told, doctors avoid to join service in government hospitals due to lack of job satisfaction, work overload, VIP duties,  frequent duties in emergency and post mortems, frequents transfers, lot of interference by political people as well as senior bureaucrats besides safe and stable career in private hospitals.

State Home cum Health Minister Anil Vij while talking to media persons said that government has decided to finance those MBBS students studying in medical colleges with interest free loan provided they fill a bond with the state government to serve in government hospitals in the state for a period of five years. According to available data, a doctor is proving medical services to 6287 persons in Haryana state, 3692 people in U.P, 1631 persons in Uttarkhand, 778 persons in Punjab, 3015 persons in Himachal Pradesh, 1143 persons in Jammu-Kashmir and 1252 persons at Delhi.
