Ad filmmakers make best directors: Prahlad Kakkar

Mumbai: Ad guru Prahlad Kakkar feels ad filmmakers make best directors beacuse of their ‘sense of aesthetics and discipline’.

“I think the best filmmakers are ex-ad filmmakers because of their sense of discipline, aesthetics, tremendous amount of sophistication, and they have the huge advantage because of cutting edge technology,” Kakkar told PTI.

“A lot of them have made the transition very successfully starting with Satyajit Ray, Shyam Benegal to Abhinav Deo, Rakeysh Mehra, Dibaker Banarjee and so forth and so on,” he said. Even Kakkar, who made the famous Pepsi TV commercial maker with Sachin Tendulkar, aspires to don a director’s hat for a film but has no plans as of yet. The ad filmmaker has recently launched Prahlad Kakkar School of Branding and Entrepreneurship in Mumbai in association with Subhash Ghai’s Whistling Woods International. The institute, he says, focuses on radical, practical training with the aim of creating the next generation of entrepreneurs. “We are extremely pleased to introduce the Prahlad Kakkar School of Branding and Entrepreneurship as we wanted to always enhance the training for students and give them something better,” he said. Kakkar also said that Bollywood celebrities, many of them entrepreneurs as well, might be roped in some to offer guidance to students. — PTI
