Gurugram: There was a stir after two country-made bombs were thrown outside a pub here. One bomb exploded while the other was defused. Two country-made bombs were thrown outside a pub bar in Sector-29 in Gurugram on Tuesday early morning at around 5.30 am. One bomb exploded, while the other was defused. A scooty parked outside the club and the club’s display board were damaged in the blast. However, the crime branch and SWAT team of Gurugram Police deployed on routine checking duty saw the accused throwing the bomb and caught him, who was identified as Sachin a resident of Meerut in UP. Police have detained another suspect and started interrogating both of them. Police have also recovered two live country-made bombs from the accused. The NIA team also reached the spot and started investigation along with Gurugram police. The arrested accused was found drunk at the time of the incident, had thrown two country-made bombs outside the club and he was about to throw two more bombs, but the police stopped him from throwing the bombs and took him into custody.
IPS Vikas Arora reached at the spot to investigate. The Bomb Disposal Team of Gurugram Police was called at the spot. Police said that the bombs were planted by a member of the Kala Jathedi-Goldie Brar gang. According to the police, the 30-year-old accused was working on the instructions of Randeep Malik, a member of the Jathedi-Brar gang living in the US. Malik had allegedly carried out similar blasts outside two clubs in Chandigarh on November 26. Police say that the purpose of the attacks was to instill fear in the traders so that they succumb to extortion threats. When the policemen caught Sachin, he shouted that I am an accomplice of Goldie Brar. I did this because you did not follow his instructions. After Brar’s name cropped up, the NIA started investigating the blasts seriously.
According to a police spokesperson, Sachin was being questioned intensively about his possible links with other extortion gangs. He said a case has been registered against him under relevant sections of the BNS, Arms Act and Explosive Substances Act. Information reveals, the Crime Branch was trying to trace the two men who dropped Sachin on a motorcycle near the pub.
