Amritsar : On 75th anniversary of the Partition, Akal Takht will hold common prayers on August 16 for the peace of souls perished during the division of Punjab between India and Pakistan.
The Akhand Path will be start at Sri Akal Takht Sahib on August 16. In memory of those killed during the partition in August 1947.
“Around 10 lakh Punjabi men, women and children were killed during the Partition of Punjab between India and Pakistan.
Giani Harpreet Singh Jathedar Akal Takht highest seat of Sikh religion said that Hindus, Sikhs and Muslims were also included among those innocent Punjabis who sacrificed lives. Therefore, followers of every religion should hold religious ceremonies in their religious places on August 16 in memory of the Punjabis who were killed according to their own religious beliefs.
He said that Punjabis paid the price for the partition of India and Pakistan in 1947 with their lives. From August 10 to August 16, 1947, millions of Hindus, Sikhs and Muslims had to suffer the pain of partition. Millions of daughters and sisters jumped into wells to save their rights. Rivers of blood and gore flowed everywhere. Jhelum and Jhanab were drenched in blood. Along with Nankana Sahib and Panja Sahib, the Khalsa Raj had to leave Lahore.
Jathedar Akal Takht said that while the Sikhs had to leave innumerable temples including Gurdwara Nankana Sahib, Gurdwara Panja Sahib and Sri Kartarpur Sahib, the Hindu community also had to leave temples like Katasraj and Shaktipeth Hinglaj. Chhade, who saw his children being killed in front of Akh, should be commemorated.
He appealed to the Sikhs living all over the world to pray at the feet of Akal Purakh in memory of the Punjabis who lost their lives from August 10 to August 16. In this regard, prayers will be offered at Sri Akal Takht Sahib on August 16
Giani Harpreet Singh said that in every Gurdwara Sahib, from August 10 to August 16, during the evening Diwan, 10 minutes of Mool Mantra and Guru Mantra will be recited to pay homage to the people who lost their lives in 1947. be offered
He appealed to the Hindu community to hold a religious ceremony in memory of the martyrs.
