Bengaluru : Indian low-cost carrier Akasa Air completed six months of operation. Speaking at press conference at an event to mark the airline’s first six months of operation , Vinay Dube, Founder and CEO, Akasa Air said,” We have successfully executed our ambitious and unprecedented scale up plans over the last 200 days. As we have grown and delivered to our plans, Akasa Air has become the preferred carrier for an increasing number of travellers across the country. As India’s greenest, and most affordable airline. “.
Dube said it plans to go international by the year-end and intends to set up a learning academy in Bengaluru. He also said Akasa has already ordered a fleet of 72 aircraft of which 18 have been delivered and planning to hire 300 pilots in coming months.”
He added “I am not going disclose the number but by the end of the year we will place large order for aircraft. It will be in three digits and it will be significant,”
Six months into operations, the airline is operating more than 700 weekly flights across 14 domestic destinations including mumai, bengaluru, Delhi Chennai, Cochin, Ahmedabad, Guwahati, Agarala, Goa, Vizag, Pune, Lucknow, Hyderabad and Varanasi across 23 unique routes.
Praveen Iyer, Co-Founder, and Chief Commercial Officer, said, “We carried out 1 millionth revenue passenger within six months of our operations. Alongside, we are forecasted to achieve an average of 100 flights per day, starting 10th of March 2023”.
