All accused involved in three bomb blast near Sri Darbar Sahib identified and nabbed-DGP

Amritsar, May 11 -Appreciating the role of SGPC Task Force for helping the police while nabbing the main accused of three blasts near the Golden Temple, top State cop DGP Gourav Yadav said that all  THE accused involved in three bomb blast near Golden Temple identified and nabbed.

Addressing the press conference here today, DGP (Director General of Police) Gourav Yadav said that it was five member modules who were behind the three blasts near the Golden Temple in the last six days. All the five accused were now in police custody. He said that there was a lady who was also rounded up by the police and her role was being examined whether she was involved in the crime or not and action against her would be decided as per investigation.

Revealing the identity of the accused, DGP said that there were two key accused who were main culprit for hatching conspiracy to carry out the blasts were Azadvir Singh and Amrik Singh who prepared IED in the inn (Guest house) of SGPC where they stayed from May 2nd to May 11. The other three accused were Harjit Singh, Dharminder Singh and Sahib Singh Saba who was holding a license to sell explosive materials used in crackers.  It was Sahib Singh Saba who gave explosive ingredients to the accused to assemble bombs.

DGP also made it clear that key accused Azadvir also have some past criminal records being examined.

He said that accused Azadvir Singh and Amrik Singh who prepared a bomb in the SGPC guest house during their stay there had used an energy drink container.

Police have seized around one kilogram of unused explosive material from accused Azadvir Singh. 

Police Commissioner Naunihal Singh has been asked to form SIT to investigate all the three blasts in the last six days near the Golden Temple area.

Earlier, a low-intensity blast took place near the Golden Temple here late in the night.

The latest blast occurred on Wednesday midnight behind the Guru Ramdas Niwas building.

Amritsar Police Commissioner Naunihal Singh had earlier said that police were informed around midnight that “a loud sound” had been heard.

As part of the precautionary measures, we are rounding up suspects and an investigation is underway, the Amritsar Police Commissioner said.

Punjab Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav, in a tweet, said, “Amritsar low-intensity explosion cases solved. Five persons arrested.” A low-intensity explosion took place on a heritage street near the Golden Temple on May 6. The second one occurred in the area in less than 30 hours after the first blast.

Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee chief Harjinder Singh Dhami on Thursday accused the state of being a “total failure” in preventing such incidents.

Referring to the previous two blasts, he said such matters should not have been taken lightly.

“I can say that it is a total failure of the government. Had it been deeply investigated, last night’s incident would not have taken place,” the SGPC chief said and suspected a conspiracy behind these incidents.
