Ambala mixi and cloth industries didn’t do well in 2018

In spite of all assurances made by senior BJP leaders in Haryana, both once famous across the world Mix industry as well as Asia’s biggest wholesale cloth market failed to get identification during year 2018 in Ambala City.

Ambala City was famous across the world for manufacturing mixis and juicers till the year 2000 having nearly 400 manufacturing units manufacturing mixis, juicers and its spare parts providing employment opportunities to large number of youths in which every 20th persons in the town was involved directly or indirection, but business stared declining there after due to lack of cooperation by the government and higher rate of sales tax charged in the state as told by the entrepreneurs in this business as a result the town manufactured first mixi in the country in 1966 was left with hardly 40 units that too in collapsing stage by the year 2015.

Most of the entrepreneurs involved in this business either closed down their shutters, shifted to alternate business or migrated to adjoining Himachal and Uttrakhand states where governments were offering attractive packages and tax rebate to the industry.

According to members of mixi manufacturers association members, when BJP government came to power in the state four years ago the entrepreneurs had high hopes to get energy once against and BJP senior leaders assured the Ambala City mixi industry lost fame would be on the world map once again but their hopes duped when failed to get relief for survival when 28% GST was imposed by the government as a result it was completely collapsed.

Ambala City famous for having Asia’s biggest wholesale cloth market having nearly 1100 cloth shops attracting customers not only from the state bus also from adjoining states. There was a demand for developing a cloth cluster in the own for which a green signal was also given by the state government in 2016 but the proposal remained dumped in the files since past three years and the local entrepreneurs in cloth business have now lost all hopes. The entrepreneurs in cloth business express regret over government decision to impose GST on the sale of cloth, which was exempted from sales tax in past.
