Amritpal’s mother arrested in Amritsar

Amritsar, April 7 – Balwinder Kaur the mother of Waris Punjab De head Amritpal Singh has been arrested in Amritsar in view of ‘Chetna March’ which was scheduled  to be organized tomorrow demanding to shift Singh in Punjab Jail who is currently imprisoned in Assam’s Dibrugarh  jail  along with nine others under the National Security Act (NSA)

Confirming the arrest of Amritpal Singh, Deputy Commissioner of Police ( law & Order) Alam Vijay Singh said that she was arrested and sent to judicial custody. He said that it was a preventive arrest and refused to divulge more details about her arrest.

The uncle of Amritpal Singh Sukhchain Singh and three others were also arrested   by Police along with Kaur .

Kaur had planned to carry out the Chetna March (consciousness procession to disseminate a message in favour of Amritpal Singh) from Dam Dama Sahib to Akal Takht Amritsar but they were arrested the day before the planned Chetna March.

It may be added here that Balwinder Kaur and kin of other detainees were on hunger strike since February 22 near the Golden Temple at Heritage Street in Amritsar. Earlier, she had said that they would continue the hunger strike till Amritpal and other detainees were brought to the Punjab jail. The nine associates of Amritpal Singh who were booked under the NSA were Daljeet Singh Kalsi, Papalpreet Singh, Kulwant Singh Dhaliwal, Varinder Singh Johal, Gurmeet Singh Bukkanwala, Harjit Singh, Bhagwant Singh, Basant Singh and Gurinderpal Singh Aujla.
