Ambala : On 12th February 2017 tp Sikh, then Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar during a state level religious function on the eve of 350th ‘Parkash Gurpurab Utsav’ at Karnal had publicly announced to establish Guru Gobind Singh University in Ambala Lok Sabha area at Ambala, Panchkula or Yamunanagar still awaiting action by the state government, said President of Rashtriya Punjabi Mahasabha Ashok Mehta a senior Congress leader and a former Information Commissioner in Haryana demanding immediate action in this regard.
Mehta also reminded the promise made by the Bhartiya Janta Party in their poll manifesto during 2014 assembly polls for developing University in the name of Guru Gobind Singh Ji in the state when comes to the power, but no action was taken by the government as such entire ‘Punjabi’ community in the state has expressed deep concern over ignoring the issue and not fulfilling the promises made years ago, demanding action on the eve of ‘Parkash Gurpurab’ being celebrated all over the world on 6th January 2025 by the present Chief Minister Saini and fulfill the promises made by the former Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar to Sikh and Punjabi communities in the state. Rashtriya Punjabi Mahasabha president Ashok Mehta said that establishing a University in the name of Guru Gobind Singh Ji will not only be a positive step in the field of education in the state but also provide sources of employment to youths as well as bring developments in the state.
