After Baroda Vidhan Sabha bi-polls in Haryana state in which Congress candidate won the seat, now the state will have another bi-poll for Ellanabad constituency in Sirsa district became vacant after the resignation of only Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) MLA in the state Abhey Singh Chautala recently in support of protesting farmers. All political parties in the state have started preparations to contest polls for this Vidhan Sabha seat likely to be held shortly.
According to information, BJP has never been able to win this Vidhan seat sat so far on which candidates from Tau Devi Lal’s family have been winner eight times out of total number of nine Vidhan Sabha polls since after 1982 on behalf of Lok Dal and INLD in-spite of the fact INLD was divided when Om Parkash Chautala’s grandson Dushyant Chautala launched his separate political Jan Nayak Janta Party (JJP) and joined hands with BJP to form government in the state and became Deputy Chief Minister in ruling state government. Information reveals, former Haryana chief minister Om Parkash Chautala was winner on Ellanabad Vidhan Sabha seat five times.
Talking to media persons Abhey Singh Chautala said, INLD has always worked on the policies of Ch. Devi Lal in favour of farmers as such he has submitted his resignation from Haryana Vidhan Sabha in support of farmers’ agitation against government’s unfavourable policies. Looking at past political scenario of Ellanabad Vidhan Sabha seat candidates from Chautala family have always been winner on this in past years except Vidhan Sabha polls held in 1968 and 1991. Bhagi Ram of Lok Dal won Ellanabad Lok Sabha seat five times when this constituency seat was declared reserved from 1977 to 2005 and he lost elections only in the year 1991 against Congress candidate Mani Ram in 1991.This constituency became a hot seat with effect from year 2009 when Om Parkash Chautala and is son Abhey Singh Chautala started contesting on this seat.
Sources reveal, Abhey Singh Chautala is trying his best to strengthen INLD network once again and include his sons Arjun Chautala and Karan Chautala in active politics like Dushyant Chautala and Digvijay Chautala. He is trying to unite all those leaders once again left INLD when there was division in Chautala family and several powerful leaders had left INLD to join JJP led by Dushyant Chautala.
