ATM theft worth Rs 12.05 lakh in 20 minutes

Third case of ATM theft on Ambala-Jagadhari highway at Do Sarka was reported to Mulana police station in Ambala district in past 15 months in which according to footage of CCTV camera installed outside Bank of Baroda ATM three youths arrived in a Swift car without number plate having covered their faces with mask broke shutter locks and two of them entered into ATM. They sprayed dark colour on CCTV camera installed inside ATM, cut   cash box in the machine and managed to flee within 15 to 20 minutes with cash worth Rs 12.05 lakh at around 1.35 AM. A case was registered with Mullana police station on the complaint of bank manager Manoj Kumar. However, youths could not be identified since their faces were covered with masks.

According to bank manager, amount worth Rs 15 lakh was inserted in ATM machine on June 5, 2020 and there were already currency notes of amount worth Rs 3.53 lakh in the machine. He told that ATM remains closed during night and there was no guard on duty at the time of theft. Narinder Singh SHO Mullana police station told that police gypsy was in the area during night patrolling and passed through the area hardly about 20-30 minutes ago while on way to Kalpi and there was no car parked outside ATM counter. He told that in past 15 months three cases of ATM thefts at Do Sarka have been reported to police including on March 3, 2019 and May 19, 2020 when attempt to rob State Bank of India ATM foiled and police arrested accused in both cases. Police also recovered amount worth Rs 14 lakh in a case of ATM theft at Saha about a month ago.

If we look at past sometime, three cases of lifting ATM machines along with cash has been reported in Ambala district, which included Axis Bank ATM machine at Durga Nagar Ambala City,  IDBI Bank ATM machine at Naraingarh Road Ambala City  and Central Bank of India ATM machine on Saha-Shahzadpur Road in the district. Besides, five cases of damaging machine and stolen cash were reported in Ambala district in past sometime, which include Dena Bank ATM at Ambala Cantt, YES Bank ATM at wholesale cloth market Ambala City, Punjab National Bank ATM at Naraingarh, HDFC Bank ATM at Durga Nagar Ambala City and Bank of Baroda ATM at Do Sarka.
