Azad tries to unite Congress leaders in Haryana

Uniting senior Congress leaders divided in groups in Haryana is a big challenge before Ghulam Nabi Azad as he has been appointed Haryana state chief by Congress high command.

Former chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda and HPCC President Ashok Tanwar are two major rival groups in Congress in the state. They started opposing each other soon after 2014 polls. One cannot forget the incident of clash between both groups visible during Kisan Rally held at Delhi in 2017, which could not be resolved by experienced Congress leaders Shakil Ahmed and Asha Kumari. Kamal Nath was appointed the state convener by Congress high command.

However, conflict between groups of senior Congress leaders Hooda, Tanwars, Kumari Shelja Rajya Sabha member, senior leaders Kiran Choudhary, former minister Capt Ajay Yadav and Kuldeep Bishnoi kept attacking each other. It not only weakened the Congress in Haryana but also benefited ruling BJP.

It is the right time for Congress high command to get united and end group clashes to strengthen the party network in the state as the Lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabha polls are approaching.

Moreover, few BJP MLAs too are facing rift with the government and in case Azad succeeds in applying ‘Chankya’ policy to unite all Congress leaders and strengthen the party in the state, it will benefit the party.

According to sources, Congress is facing severe financial crisis at the moment due to lack of collection of party funds because of conflict between groups of senior party leaders for more than four years.
