Haryana government has taken decision not to set up any new industry in the state based on use of diesel and coal and the industrial units run by piped natural gas (PNG) or compressed natural gas (CNG) will be permitted and given license by the government in the state. Talking to media persons Chair- person Haryana State Pollution Control Board Dr. Sumita Misra said, decision has been taken by the state government not to permit 10 years old diesel driven and 15 years old petrol driven automobile vehicles spreading smoke and harmful particles on roads and should be scraped since pollution in environments are getting bad to worst day by day due to fast increasing automobile vehicles on roads causing severe harm to health. The owner of industrial units in Haryana state will have to submit an understanding to the government before setting up an industry not to use such types of fuel to control pollution in the atmosphere and stern action will be taken against those violating directions.
Information reveals, apart from automobiles spreading smoke and harmful particles, dust at the place of construction, smoke coming out of chimneys in industries and brick kilns also play major role in spreading harmful pollution in the atmosphere. Haryana state government has prepared an action plan in this regard to set up new CNG pumps all over in the state for CNG driven as well as electric vehicles, besides giving new licenses only to those units assuring not to use diesel and coal in their industries.
Information reveals, there are nearly 16000 industrial units in Haryana state, which include nearly 13000 micro and small units and nearly 3000 medium and big units and in case of use of green fuel pollution will improve to large extent. The pollution increases a lot due to burning of crop wastes during crop harvesting season every year. Information also reveals that Haryana state government is setting up plants to manufacture electricity from crop wastes in the state. Out of total number of 16000 industrial units in the state nearly 50% units are releasing smoke exist in Guugram, Panipat, Sonepat, Faridabad, Rohtal, Bahadurgarh and Yamunanagar districts and most of these units are illegally functioning without having permission from State Pollution Control Board or a license from government.
