BBMB Generated 8.12% more energy than CEA Target in 2018-19 despite reduced inflows and low reservoir levels

Chandigarh: Bhakra Beas Management Board has surpassed generation targets of 9425 million units fixed by the Central Electricity Authority for the financial year 2018-19 by 8.12 % by generating 10190 million units of energy. This feet was achieved despite reduced inflows in the river Satluj and Beas as well as low water levels in BBMB reservoirs during summer of 2018 and also during most of the filling season from 21st May to 20th September, 2018. This has been possible due to judicious operation of reservoirs as well as efficient operation and maintenance of the generating units with one of the highest plant availability. Cumulative machine availability of generating units of BBMB during 2018-19 is 97.95 %. The plant availability of Bhakra Right bank Power House is the highest with 99.98%.
In addition, all six machines of Dehar Power House were run simultaneously, during peak hours in the month of August, 2018, after more than a decade.
Sh. D.K. Sharma, Chairman, BBMB congratulated all the employees of BBMB for their untiring efforts to maintain excellence in Irrigation and Power Sectors.
