BBMB opens rooftop solar PV plants at Delhi, Narela substations

Chandigarh: Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB) has planned to implement grid connected rooftop solar PV projects on the roofs of its buildings/offices, ground mounted and floating solar PV Plant as a part of its contribution to Renewable Energy initiatives of Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, Government of India.
Sh. Ajay Kumar Bhalla, IAS, Secretary, Ministry of Power, Govt. of India, today on 29.01.2019 inaugurated Grid Connected Rooftop Solar PV Plant of 80kWp capacity at 220kV Substation BBMB Delhi and of 20kWp capacity at 220kV substation BBMB Narela. Both these plants are estimated to generate 1.60lakh units of energy per annum.
In his address, Sh. Ajay Kumar Bhalla, IAS appreciated BBMB; a pioneer in Hydro-electric generation for contribution towards Renewable Energy initiatives. He also highlighted numerous benefits of harnessing renewable energy and congratulated Er. D.K. Sharma, Chairman, BBMB and his team for their concerted efforts in this direction.
Chairman, BBMB, informed that, recently on 18th Dec. 2018, Rooftop Solar Power Plants with a total capacity of 100kWp at 220kV Substation, BBMB, Jalandhar and of 60kWp at 220kV Substation, BBMB, Jamalpur were commissioned. Earlier, BBMB had installed Grid Connected Rooftop PV plants on its office buildings at Chandigarh with total installed capacity of 175kWp, in Aug 2017.Chairman, BBMB further added that besides installation of more rooftop PV plants on the substation & non-residential buildings, installation of Ground Mounted Solar PV Plant and Floating Solar PV Plant at Nangal has also been taken in hand in BBMB. Chairman, BBMB congratulated employees and Engineers of BBMB and lauded their concerted efforts in achieving the above feat.
