BBMB steps up volunteering services to fight COVID-19

Chandigarh: Bhakra Beas Management Board, pioneer in water and energy sectors in India has stepped up its volunteering services at its project stations i.e. Nangal, Talwara Sundernagar and at Chandigarh to help needy people by providing them food packets and other essential articles of daily needs during the Nation’s fight against Corona Virus (COVID-19).
BBMB Red Cross Welfare Society, Nangal distributed 120 packs of Ration Articles to daily wages labourers and needy people. Similarly, at Sundernagar (HP) 320 food packets were distributed since last three days to migrated labourers and needy persons. This practice of providing cooked food packets is continuing on daily basis. At Chandigarh, BBMB officers club is also helping UT Administration by providing cooked food daily to the migratory labourers residing in different community centres at Chandigarh. Similar, activities have been taken up at Talwara also.
Three hospitals of BBMB and some vacant houses have been converted into isolation wards with 221 beds. Adequate precautions are being taken to sanitise hospitals and working areas at its projects stations. Sanitizers, PPE kits and masks have been provided in hospitals. Masks have also been distributed to local people. Ladies Club at Nangal, Talwara and Sundernagar have taken in hand work of preparation of mask and gown for the hospital staff as well as for employees of BBMB.
D.K. Sharma, Chairman asked all the employees to join in fight against COVID-19 and follow guidelines of Ministry of Health & family Welfare, Govt of India. He also requested them to stay away from rumours.
