BBMB surpasses energy target by 131% generation during lockdown period

Chandigarh: Bhakra Beas Management Board has surpassed its energy generation target fixed by Central Electricity Authority (CEA) for the first quarter of financial year 2020-21 ending June, 2020 by 131%. BBMB Power Houses generated 3326 million units of energy against target of 2543 million units. Plant availability of BBMB Power Houses has been registered as 99.15% which is far above the operating availability of 91.28% at National Level. The transmission availability has been registered as 99.84% which is much more than normative availability of 98.5% for hydro generating stations.
It is worth to mention here that scheduling of BBMB generating stations have come under the ambit of Availability Based Tariff (ABT) w.e.f. June, 2016. BBMB under this regime earned Rs. 92.47 crore ending June, 2020 through Deviation Settlement Mechanism (DSM). It was achieved by optimum utilization of the available resources and close monitoring of the real time generation schedule/ actual energy generated from BBMB generating stations round the clock and operation of machines.
