Bhagwant government’s ‘Action Plan’ against drug smugglers & terrorists in Punjab

Chandigarh: About 16 months ago Punjab government launched  operation against drug smuggling in the state as a result 21786 drug smugglers were arrested by state police and pushed ithe bars so far. Bhagwant government not only launched campaign in Punjab state but also in Gujarat and Maharashtra states from where drug supplies were being made and delivered at seaport with the help of Special Task Force and Anti-gangster Task Force, which succeeded in arresting several hard core criminals along with nearly 1068 declared offenders by the courts and were absconding since past couple of years, presently lodged in jails in past over a year.  

Information reveals, under ‘Nasha Mukti Abhiyan’ Punjab police has recovered 1044.31 kg Opium, 525.69 kg Bhukki, 2.21 kg Smack, 15.25 kg Ganja, 47.21 kg Charas, 1239.49 kg Heroine and 86,28,522 intoxicated tablets, capsules and injections. As such Punjab police registered 16375 cases under NDPS Act so far in the past about 18 months . Not only this, ruling government in Punjab has arrested 66 large scale drug smugglers recovering drugs of value worth over Rs 26.72 crore from them and attached their properties which include 13 properties of value worth over Rs 2.34 crore in Barnala district, 9 properties of value worth over Rs 1.72 crore in Fazilka district and 6 properties of value worth over Rs 1.13  crore in Malerkotla district.

Bhagwant government in Punjab busted 206 gangster modules spreading terrorism in the state through specialized Anti-gangster Task Force (AGTF) which was constituted in Punjab state in April 2022 to wipe out increasing terrorism from the state, which exhibited successful results in the state not only to control increasing incidents of terrorism but also to control drug smuggling in Punjab by the terrorists in neighboring Pakistan involved in sending weapons and RDX along with consignments  of the drugs through drones. Information reveals, in the past about 18 months 208 gangster modules spreading terrorism in Punjab were busted with the killing of five hard core criminals spreading terrorism.

Information also reveals that AGTF also busted a large number of gangster gangs and pushed 688 behind the bars and recovered 667 weapons and 157 vehicles. AGTF also recovered 44854 kg of heroin and Rs 1,76,703 from them. Punjab police busted 28 hard core terrorists spreading terrorism in Punjab through a network while sitting abroad and sending drugs, weapons and explosive material in our country. Punjab police captured 57 drone, arrested 181 hard core criminals involved in terrorist activities and seized from them 32 rifles, 213 revolvers, 9 tiffin bombs which were diffused, 10866 kg RDX, 7 detonators, 11 hand grenades, 2 rocket launchers in past nearly 18 months. Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Maan told media persons that the campaign against hard core criminals will continue till Punjab becomes terrorism-free state.
