Bibi Jagir Kaur, Parminder Dhindsa, submit clarifications at Akal Takht

Amritsar, September 9 – Following  the directives of Akal Takht the highest Sikh temporal seat of Sikhs, former SGPC president and former MLA Bibi Jagir Kaur, former ministers of Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD), Parminder Singh Dhindsa and Sohan Singh Thandal appeared at the Akal Takht, separately  to submit their written clarifications on Monday.

It may be mentioned here that both the leaders Dhinda and Jagir Kaur were from rebel camp and both were kicked out from the primary membership of the party by the SAD president Sukhbir Singh Badal.

However, Dhindsa remained in the Punjab cabinet of SAD led Government  as minister for PWD during 2007-2012 and Minister for Finance and Planning in the second term 2012-2017.

Desisting from commenting over the issue, he said the aim of launching the ‘SAD Sudhar Lehar’ was to ‘make the party strong and revive its original principles.

“We are committed to the Akal Takht. As per directions, submitted my clarification,” Dhindsa said.

However, earlier before coming to  Akal Takht, both Dhindsa and Kaur had resigned from the group of the ‘SAD Sudhar Lehar,’ by saying that  they wished to come as ‘humble’ Sikhs.

Kaur who was the former president of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) in 1999, 2004 and 2020, also remained Tourism and Cultural Affairs Minister hardly for a month period during 2012-2017 term.

She stated in her clarification by saying that she sworn in as minister on March 14, 2012 and resigned on March 30, 2012 but definitely she was the member of SAD core committee member and no such issues were discussed during her period.

She further stated that she was the minister for just 16 days in 2012. She made it clarified that she was never the part of any discussion or decision of these moves which were presently before the Akal Takht.  However Kaur was expelled from the SAD twice due to conflict in the party.
