Haryana CM Saini drank the river water near Sonipat, said: the poison is not in the holy river, water but in the minds of the opposition leaders
Sonipat: The Haryana government has taken strong cognizance of Arvind Kejriwal’s statement making allegations regarding poisoning the Yamuna river water flowing to Delhi via Haryana, and has filed a case against former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in the court of Sonipat CJM Neha Goyal under sections 2-D and 54 of the Disaster Management Act, allegedly accusing Haryana government for poisoning the water of the Yamuna river. The court has fixed February 17 for the next hearing in the case. According to legal experts, the Act provides for imprisonment of one to two years and fine if the charges are proved, Haryana Disaster Management Minister Vipul Goyal said while talking to media persons that court has issued a notice to Kejriwal to appear before it and fixed February 17 as the next date of hearing in the case. Vipul Goyal said that a case has been filed against the former Delhi chief minister under criminal Sections Section 2-D of the Disaster Management Act 2005, while Section 54 provides for punishment for issuing a false warning. He said, If a person spreads false rumours in such cases, he can be jailed for up to one year or fined or both. If someone else is harmed due to the person concerned, then there is a provision of punishment of up to two years for the accused in the Disaster Management Act.
The Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Vipul Goyal said, the Election Commission will also take strict action against Kejriwal for making such a cheap and irresponsible statement doing cheap politics by accusing Haryana of mixing poison in the Yamuna water which is being supplied to Delhi is also consumed by the President, Prime Minister and Union Ministers. By giving this statement, Kejriwal has spread fear not only among the people of Delhi but also among the people of Haryana. The Delhi government has completely failed in making the Yamuna clean since the past about a decade. He said, people consider Yamuna river as their idol and to save his credibility in the elections, Arvind Kejriwal has made such shameful and baseless allegations against the government and people of Haryana who consider the Yamuna river as their deity. This type of false propaganda is not only an insult to Haryana but also a conspiracy to mislead the people of Delhi. Vipul Goyal said that Kejriwal is claiming that he stopped the so-called ‘poisonous water’ from entering Delhi, but he has no proof of this claim. Kejriwal has no proof of Haryana poisoning the water and the Delhi government stopping it. The Central Election Commission has also asked him for this proof. It is Arvind Kejriwal’s old habit to lie to hide his failures.
Information reveals that out of 37 sewage treatment plants in Delhi, only 17 are operational, which shows the inefficiency of the Delhi government and its irresponsibility for the plight of the Yamuna river. This mismanagement of the Delhi government is affecting not only the people of Delhi but also the people of Faridabad, Palwal, Sonipat and Nuh districts of Haryana.Under the Disaster Management Act there are 11 chapters and 79 sections constituted of the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) and the State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA). The NDMA is headed by the Prime Minister and the SDMA is headed by the respective Chief Minister. Section 2-D of the Disaster Management Act 2005 defines disaster, while Section 54 provides for punishment for giving false warning about a disaster or its severity, can result in a jail term of up to one year or a fine. There is also a provision of punishment in case a false warning causes panic. Amidst political turmoil, Haryana CM Naib Saini on Wednesday along with several leaders drank Yamuna water flowing in the river near Palla village in Sonipat district, said that the poison is not in the holy river, but in the minds of the opposition leaders amid the controversy over high ammonia content in the Yamuna river. Saini said that he has no hesitation in doing so.
Delhi Chief Minister Atishi had tweeted tagging Naib Singh Saini and asked him to go with her to test the Yamuna river water. Atishi also entered the controversy of allegations and counter-allegations between former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Haryana Chief Minister Naib Singh Saini. Former media advisor to the Haryana Chief Minister Rajiv Jain who belongs to Sonipat claimed that the water is completely pure. The controversy over the high amount of ammonia in the water of the Yamuna river flowing through Haryana to Delhi is not subsiding, as such Haryana Chief Minister Naib Singh Saini accompanied by few political leaders of Sonipat went to the banks of the Yamuna and drank the water. Surprisingly, Addressing Naib Saini, the Delhi CM Atishi had written in the post, I have come to know that you are going to Palla Ghat from Yamuna river. I request that you and I go together. Let’s take media colleagues along as well. We will measure the amount of ammonia in front of everyone. Everyone should know that Haryana is sending poisonous water to the people of Delhi. Haryana Chief Minister Naib Singh Saini responded to this post of Atishi. Saini tagged Atishi’s post saying, “Welcome to the Yamuna bank of Palla village. There is no poison in the water coming to Delhi from Haryana, but your minds are definitely filled with poison.”
The Haryana CM said, sometimes for the shortage of water, sometimes for the smoke from stubble and sometimes for all their failures, Delhi government always keeps blaming the people of Haryana. Now during the assembly elections, former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had deepened the holy Yamuna river water dispute by alleging that Haryana was mixing poison in the Yamuna water, to which the Haryana government has strongly protested against former and present Delhi CM and knocked on the door of the Central Election Commission. The Chief Minister went to Palla, the last village of Sonipat district and drank the water of Yamuna river along with several political leaders to drink the water of Yamuna there. Prior to this on Tuesday, Rajiv Jain a former media advisor to Haryana CM went to Palla village with many BJP officials and drank the water of Yamuna and claimed that this water is completely pure and the allegations of Delhi government of mixing poison in it are motivated by politics and malice against Haryana.
Meanwhile, Delhi Jal Board CEO Shilpa Shinde refuted AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal’s claims of poison in the Yamuna, labeling them misleading. Shinde emphasized regular water quality monitoring and Haryana’s measures to address pollution, amid rising political tensions ahead of the February 5 Assembly elections. Delhi Jal Board CEO Shilpa Shinde on Monday denied AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal’s claim that the Haryana government had released poison into the Yamuna River. Shinde called the allegations factually incorrect, without basis, and misleading, while emphasising the potential harm caused by such claims to interstate relations and public confidence.
According to information several political leaders as well as accredited residents of Delhi expressed surprise over Kejriwal’s blame ‘If people in Delhi drink this water, many will die’ when questioned by media men said ‘Can anything be more disgusting than this? The poison that is being mixed in the water cannot even be cleaned in water treatment plants. For the safety of the people of Delhi, the water supply has to be stopped in many areas,’ they said. Earlier, Kejriwal had accused the BJP-led Haryana government of contaminating the raw water reaching Delhi, likening it to ‘biological warfare’ and suggesting it could lead to mass casualties in the capital. Surprisingly, Delhi Chief Minister Atishi earlier held a press conference and accused Haryana of intentionally releasing industrial waste into the Yamuna river water, whereas her government itself was responsible for the neglect where contaminated water containing industrial wastes as well as sewerage is being thrown through drains at number of places in Yamuna river water flowing inside the capitol.
However, Shinde’s letter clarified that the Delhi Jal Board (DJB) regularly monitors water quality and adjusts the treatment processes accordingly. While interacting with media persons, Shinde explained that reduced flow during the winter season exacerbates the impact of untreated sewage upstream, but the Haryana government has already initiated measures to address the issue, including laying pipelines to comply with National Green Tribunal’s orders. The DJB CEO urged the chief secretary to forward the matter to Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena, noting that such fear-mongering statements will not only mislead Delhi residents, but also harm relations with the neighboring Haryana state. Information reveals that the chief secretary has since forwarded Shinde’s note to the lieutenant governor, highlighting its implications for interstate relations. Meanwhile, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Saini has also dismissed Kejriwal’s accusations, stating that the AAP government has a habit of blaming others for its own shortcomings, and now the cleanliness and water quality of the Yamuna have become a major, shocking, baseless and a cheap issue in the heated political climate ahead of the Assembly elections in Delhi and such fear-mongering statements will mislead Delhi residents as well as harming relations with Haryana.
Meanwhile, Congress candidate from New Delhi assembly constituency Sandeep Dikshit while talking to media said, Arvind Kejriwal should explain what kind of poison was there in holy Yamuna river water? He is lying and still allowed to roam free, and if a common man alleges the govt of genocide, he will be in jail the very next moment. It is surprising why no action is being taken against him by Haryana Police or Delhi Police. Where is the election commission? Expressing surprise Dikshit said, it seems there is an internal alliance between both the AAP and BJP not worried about such issues, even if people get panicked. ” If what Arvind Kejriwal is blaming is true, he should extend evidence and if not there must be a case registered against him.”
Meanwhile, Cabinet Minister Anil Vij while talking to media persons hit back at Kejriwal saying that he blames others for his weaknesses. He challenged Kejriwal to form a team of international experts to get the water quality in Sonipat and Okhla tested so that it becomes clear who is responsible for the lapses. ” Blaming others for his own weaknesses is Kejriwal’s old habit. Aam Aadmi Party has been in power for 10 years, they should have cleaned the Yamuna. Vij said that Kejriwal is saying that dirty water is coming from Haryana, so form a team of international experts and get the quality of water tested in Sonipat and Okhla. This will make it clear who is responsible. Vij said that it is not Haryana’s responsibility to clean up Delhi’s pollution. Haryana will not clean up Delhi’s filth. It was Kejriwal’s job, but he failed in his task.
