Change in crop pattern in 1.04 lakh hectare land of Haryana to save water

In view of drastic drop in water level underground in Haryana state, large number of farmers in the state has willingly decided to change their crop pattern from paddy requires huge quantity of water to alternate crops under state government’s ‘Mera Pani Meri Virasat’ scheme in which paddy growers would be given Rs 7000 per acre financial aid in case they cultivate an alternate crop in their agriculture land  other than paddy crop. Sanjiv Kaushal Additional Chief Secretary Agriculture & Farmers Welfare Department Haryana said, chief minister Manohar Lal Khatter is serious to implement this scheme to save shortage of water..

Kaushal said that chief minister Haryana had assured to provide drinking water to every family in the state by year 2024 but achieved this target much before the time likely to provide drinking water connection to every family in rural as well as urban area across the state by year 2022. He said, there are about 30 lakh residential houses in rural areas in the state, of them water connections has been given to 23.53 lakh houses by now in spite of the fact KOVID-19 epidemic outbreak being faced by the state government in which 55 litre drinking water is being supplied everyday to each person..
