Amritsar : Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Singh Badal today said chief minister Bhagwant Mann had allegedly now directed district police chiefs to embroil SAD social media heads in fake cases.
Talking to the media here, the SAD president said “I want to tell Bhagwant Mann that neither the SAD nor its workers will be cowed down by such pressure tactics. The SAD has a long and glorious history of fighting against repression. The more we are repressed, the stronger we bounce back”.
Badal said the chief minister had first forced the cyber crime cell to register a frivolous case against party general secretary Parambans Singh Romana who had got relief from court with the latter even observing that the case seemed to be one of political vendetta. He said following this a fraudulent case had also been cooked up against Majitha legislator Ganieve Kaur Majithia which was also stayed by the high court. “Now the chief minister is trying to silence senior leader Bikram Majithia by issuing summons in a case in which the Punjab Police has failed to present a challan for the last two years”. He said such acts would not intimidate the SAD which would continue to expose the chief minister at every available opportunity.
Detailing the latest pressure tactic of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government, Badal said “Now the Punjab CID head has on instructions of the chief minister decided to silence SAD social media voices that are exposing him every day”. He said district police chiefs had been directed to implicate SAD social media heads in false cases. “This is condemnable. The more cases are registered against us, the more we will share matters exposing you”, Badal told the chief minister adding “I will share the same matter on my own personal account. Register a case against me if you want”.
Answering another query, Badal alleged AAP legislators had unleashed a flood of violence and intimidation in the State by resorting to capture cable television operations as well as all sand mining quarrying. “Even the chief minister’s wife Dr Gurpreet Kaur is leading such activities in Patiala”. He said simultaneously gangsters had become a law unto themselves in Punjab by running flourishing extortion rackets from jail. He said the State police instead of moving against the gangsters and law breakers was busy in providing security to the chief minister and his family including Mann’s wife, sister and mother.
