New Delhi : Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee president Ajay Rai said that the tragedy at the Maha Kumbh stampede in Prayagraj occurred due to the improper arrangement for lakhs of devotees who came for the  holi dip at Prayagraj by the UP Government.  Addressing a   press conference at the DPCC office, Rajiv Bhawan here today, Ajay Rai said  that the Yogi Government only  made tall claims without creating proper facilities to  accommodate crores of devotees at such a limited place, as the BJP Government had made it a political show, not a religious function.

Ajay Rai said that the “guarantee” in the Delhi Congress manifesto to create a separate Ministry with a separate budget  to protect the interest of lakhs of Poorvanchalis living in Delhi was praiseworthy as the Aam Aadmi Party and the BJP had treated the Poorvanchalis only as their vote banks without giving them anything in return. He said that a separate Ministry will take care of the health, education, and financial condition of Poorvanchalis to help them earn a respectable living, and the Chhath Puja will be celebrated like the Maha Kumbh by creating a special Chhath Ghat on the Yamuna bank, which will be declared as a separate district, were very encouraging  for Poorvanchalis.

Ajay Rai said that BJP president J.P.Nadda and AAP convenor Kejriwal insulted Poorvanchalis, though they play a vital role in the progress and development of Delhi, by equating them with Bangladeshis and Rohingyas, and accusing them of coming to Delhi with  a Rs 5 ticket to get Rs 5 lakh worth of free treatment. He asked the Poorvanchalis to vote for Congress in the upcoming Assembly elections as only the Congress will fulfil its “guarantees” to protect their interest and uplift their life. He said that Poorvanchalis mostly live in slum clusters, unauthorized colonies and resettlement colonies, but when the Congress returns to power, it will not only allot the nearly 55,000 flats constructed to resettle the poor, but will also revive the in-situ construction of flats started by the Congress Government, which was shelved by the Kejriwal Government after getting the votes of Poorvanchalis with false promises.
