Congress leader Nirupam slams Amit Shah for ‘vulgar’ speech

Mumbaikars had to patiently bear delay upto six hours in road travel due to traffic snarls caused by massive convoy of buses coming into the city for the BJP Foundation Day event. However, the Congress lost no time in commenting on it with MRCC President Sanjay Nirupam lashing out at BJP Chief Amit Shah “for having no consideration for the people of the city.”

“Around 35,000 farmers marched into Mumbai quietly and chose to travel by night to avoid inconveniencing people of the city. But Amit Shah wanted to show the people just how indifferent he and the BJP are to commuters, students taking their exams and office goers. Not for a minute did the BJP President think of how the people of Mumbai would suffer because of their so-called show of strength,” said Nirupam.

Describing Amit Shah’s speech as +ridden with lies and more lies,+ Nirupam said, “Amit Shah says the petrol & diesel prices were higher during the UPA rule. I think if the BJP has to pass any more circulars on fake news, it should be for the fake claims being made by it’s own party President. Never have petrol prices been at Rs 81 per litre during the UPA regime. And this, despite international crude prices being much higher during the UPA rule. Amit Shah is full of fake claims.”

However, what really seems to have angered the MRCC President is the manner in which the BJP President has referred to the opposition, the Congress stated. “In a democracy, we can’t stoop down to the level of being unparliamentary in our language. Mr Shah says that the opposition is huddling together as animals do during a calamity. One thing I do agree – Narendra Modi is a calamity for this country. And I want to remind Mr Shah that before he gives this analogy, he should look at the track record of his own great leaders who, in 1975, had formed a collective opposition against Congress rule. Is he calling them rats, mongoose and so on as well?” Nirupam said, adding, “In a democracy, the opposition is as strong an arm of the legislature as the ruling party. The opposition must be treated with the respect it deserves. It cannot be ridiculed to get cheap air time.”

The Mumbai Congress Chief also pooh-poohed Amit Shah’s claim of good governance in the states ruled by the BJP, by stating,”16 ministers in the current Maharashtra cabinet have corruption cases against them. The Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis is struggling to answer questions regarding a Tea Scam in his office and a Rat Scam in the Mantralaya. And the nexus between the Governmentt and builders is only becoming stronger and more corrupt. Is this what Shah means as Good Governance?”
