Congress, according to its national communication department head Randeep Singh Surjewala, has played an important role in all past developments at Jind Vidhan Sabha constituency as and when Congress candidates won polls in this constituency in past years. However, the constituency suffered in past four and half years under BJP government rule in the state, Surjewala told The Financial World at Kaithal. “Neither BJP Chief Minister nor INLD  MLA late Hari Chand Midha and MP Ramesh Kaushik  took any initiative for the welfare and development of their constituency, which remained neglected since both were not permitted to speak in Vidhan Sabha sessions,” added the Congress candidate for hot Jind seat by-election during an exclusive interview with FW.

FW:  On what ground you jumped into Jind Vidhan Sabha poll battle when you are already holding MLA seat at prominent Kaithal?

Surjewala: I have family relationship with Jind and decided to fight polls from this seat not to play with the sentiments of others besides to obey my high command wanted me to contest for this seat on behalf of Congress party. I have five Vidhan Sabha polls in the state five times out of six having victory twice at Kaithal and Narwana seats. I am happy to contest polls from Jind constituency for the welfare of residents and change the scenario of this constituency faced utter neglect in past four and half years.

FW:  Why Congress high command has contested you from Jind constituency at present. Are you having support from all senior Congress leaders in the state divided into groups as generally said?

Surjewala: Congress has played important role in all past developments at Jind Vidhan Sabha constituency as and when Congress candidates won polls in this constituency in past years but the constituency suffered in past four and half years under BJP government rule in the state in which neither Chief Minister nor INLD  MLA late Hari Chand Midha and MP Ramesh Kaushik  took any initiative for the welfare and development of their constituency, which remained neglected since both were not permitted to speak in Vidhan Sabha sessions. In case I win this seat assure to bring developments this constituency similar to those witnessed at Rohtak, Hisar and Ambala.

FW: Jind is said to be ‘Jaat Land’ constituency in the state in which you will have to face three ‘Jaat’ contestants in poll battle. What would be the base of your victory in this poll race?

Surjewala: We have only slogan ‘Jind would be changed’. Congress do not believe in caste and religion politics as in case of other political parties as such we are getting support, love and blessings of all ‘36 Biradaris’ in the constituency as compared to rival parties BJP, INLD and JJP.  JJP leader himself have admitted that INLD is ‘B Team’ of BJP and my person view is that JJP is not an independent  political party but functioning as ‘Junior BJP’ and voters in Jind constituency would never  like to be neglected again and become victim of partiality once again.

FW: Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar usually claims that similar developments have been undertaken in every district in the state in past four and half years BJP rule in the state. What is your opinion?

Surjewala:  People in Jind constituency are well aware that neither former MLA nor MP in the constituency ever bothered to take care of this constituency till date as such J9ind constituency is deprived of its rights due to partiality and unfavourable policies by the ruling government when residents of this constituency are going to say ‘good-by’ to BJP government in the state in coming Lok Sabha as well as Vidhan Sabha polls. I would like to say that out of 700 temporary post filled up by the ruling government in the state in p-ast some time, of them 652 belongs to other districts in the state.

FW: Do you expect, you will be projected Chief Minister of the state in case you win this seat and Congress comes to power in the state?

Surjewala: I am contesting in this seat for the welfare of people in Jind Vidhan Sabha and prosperity in the area. Faced severe neglect. I am son of Jindand prove change my familybrelationship to political relationship seeking support, love and blessings of voters in Jind Vidhan Sabha constituency.
