New Delhi : The Congress today condemned the denial of time to speak to one of the two Manipur MPs in the Lok Sabha yesterday.
Talking to reporters, Congress MPs Gaurav Gogoi and Praniti Shinde said that while one of the two MPs had spoken earlier, the other MP also deserved a few minutes to speak but was not allowed to do so.
Gogoi said, while the Prime Minister spoke for two long hours, repeating the same old things, the house did not provide just a few minutes to an MP who wanted to narrate the plight of a state that is burning.
He observed that this was the level of extreme insensitivity the Prime Minister had towards the people of Manipur and wondered whether Manipur was not part of this country.
Ms Parniti Shinde said, when the Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi tried to raise the Manipur issue, he was not allowed to speak and his mike was repeatedly switched off.
She said, it was unprecedented and for the first time that the mike of the Leader of the Opposition, who holds the second most important position in the house, was muted.
