Congress slams Modi govt over price hike of Essential Commodities

New Delhi-; The Congress party slams Modi govt. over the skyrocketed prices of the essential commodities in the country, addresses the Prime Minister Narendra Modi as “ Mehangai Man”. The party also asks the government to reduce the excise duty on fuel immediately.

Displaying a basket full of vegetables like Tomatoes, Ginger, Green Chillies, Garlic and some groceries items, Congress Spokesperson Supriya Srinate attacked BJP govt over increasing price rise. The prices of the food items are so high that it has become unaffordable for a common man, it is very difficult for anybody to survive in such situations. Addressing a press conference in New Delhi, Congress spokesperson Supriya Srinate said the prices of tomatoes which were around Rs 20-30 last month have now gone up to Rs 100-150. Showing the Basket full of vegetables costing around Rs 1070, Supriya suggested everyone to gift such expensive baskets to people in the functions instead of sweets.

According to her the ruthless taxation leads to additional cost of transportation that eventually leads to price hike on vegetables and fruits. The govt. should reverse the prices of the essential commodities soon. The common man on one side has to face inflation and on the other unemployment. Even those who are employed were not having enough income, she said. “ We expect the govt to stop profiteering through taxes. Prices of Biscuits, tea leaves, and other snacks have also gone up, she added.

The All Indian Mahila Congress also held a protest outside BJP office in New Delhi, demanding relief for people from rising inflation of essential commodities.  The women wing also accused the Delhi Police of manhandling and violating protocols.” Delhi Police under Home Minister Amit Shah does not miss any opportunity to break rules, conventions and procedures laid out in the Police manual to intimidate and harass protesters raising their voices against the Modi Government. They have broken all protocols by sending male officers to manhandle Mahila Congress workers protesting against rise in prices of essential commodities” Congress leader Jairam Ramesh tweeted.

Meanwhile Congress is all set to ask questions of price hike of essential commodities in the forthcoming Monsoon session of the parliament.
