Conspiracy to defame family, says father Tarsem Singh on Amritpal’s brother’s arrest

Amritsar : Tarsem Singh, father of  ‘Waris Punjab De’ Chief  Amritpal Singh, has termed the arrest of his elder son Harpreet Singh in a drugs case by Phillaur police, as an attempt to defame his family who has been fighting against the rampant drug scourge in Punjab. 

According to Tarsem Singh  “It is part of a larger conspiracy to defame the family,” he alleged while adding that their fight against drugs is troubling the government.

“The government and police have all the means to defame anyone and anytime they want to. They have failed to nail the big fish in the illegal drug trade,” Tarsem said, alleging that they were working under the influence of drug cartels. 

Father Tarsem Singh said the family came to know about Harpreet’s arrest only through media. The police did not inform the family.They tried to reach his friends but found nothing about his whereabouts.

He left the house on Thursday afternoon after which his mobile went off, Tarsem Singh told to media.

Thirty-one-year-old Sikh radical Amritpal Singh, head of ‘Waris Punjab De’, won the Khadoor Sahib seat by 197,120 votes over his nearest rival, Congress candidate Kulbir Singh Zira and recently took oath in Lok Sabha Speaker’s Chamber along with Kashmiri leader Sheikh Abdul Rashid
