Fatehabad: Couple who robbed on the pretext of giving lift on Ratia Road, Fatehabad arrested by Fatehabad police during interrogation confessed to 10 crimes of robbing in three days. DSP Kulwant Singh said that the husband and wife used to commit robbery in a car after making a plan. The arrested accused were identified as Kamalpreet, resident of Nahar Colony Ratia and his wife Happy both were married about two years ago. During interrogation, the couple revealed 10 crimes in the past few days. According to the latest victim, an Anganwadi worker Karmjit Kaur a resident of village Aharwan had lodged a complaint on October 28 stating that she was going from her house to the Anganwadi centre in the village when she took a lift from a young car driver sitting along with a woman in the car gave her a lift her outside the Anganwadi centre, but did not dropped her.
Victim said that the accused had beaten her and injured her with a sharp weapon when she resisted, meanwhile both snatched her earrings (tops) and her mobile phone. The police on the complaint took swift action in the case and arrested the couple. Sadar police presented both the accused in the court. From there, Happy was sent to jail while accused Kamalpreet was remanded on two days police custody, who confessed the crime during preliminary interrogation and said that about a week ago, an old man from village Ahrawan was made to sit in a car and Rs 2,000 were robbed from him. Both admitted that about a week ago, they robbed an old man near village Ayalki on the pretext of giving him a lift.
Among other cases of robbing people while offering them lift in the car admitted by the accused included an old man given lift in a car from Sardulgarh from whom amount worth Rs 4,000 was robbed from and he was dropped near Nagpur village. About four to five days ago, on the pretext of giving a lift to an old woman from Dhani Chanchak bus stand, they snatched her gold earrings. About a week ago, an old man from village Aharwan was made to sit in a car and snatched a mobile phone and Rs 4,000 from him. Among few other robbing cases in past few days admitted by Kamalpreet alongwith his wife Happy included a mobile phone stolen from a youth near Deep Singh College on Ratiya Road, a pregnant woman and her child were given lift near the bus stand in their car and her silver anklets were robbed, a woman was made to sit in car from the Dariyapur bus stand and her mobile phone alongwith Rs 200 she was carrying in her purse were robbed from her near the village Gillakheda, robbed a youth whose motorcycle ran out of fuel near Ratia bridge his mobile phone and Rs 4,000 on the pretext of giving him a lift to bring petrol from a oil filling station. Kamalpreet, married to Happy about one and a half years ago said, they used to target elderly couples and there are several cases of committing such crimes to meet their expenses.
