Amritsar, December 5 – Three days police remand has been given to police by the court here today for Narayan Singh Chaura who was arrested on the spot on Wednesday when the assassination bid was made on Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal outside the Golden Temple.
According to police, initially seven days remand was requested in the court but court has granted three days remand to continue and complete the ongoing investigation.
Police said that no doubt, weapon used in the crime was recovered on the spot but police wanted to know that where the weapon was procured by the accused Naryan Singh Chaura and who gave it to him.
Police also wanted to know about the motive of the accused to attack on Sukhbir Badal besides his accomplice which was still mystery for the Police.
However, yesterday on December 4, Punjab former Deputy Chief minister Sukhbir Singh Badal had a narrow escape when assailant fired gunshot at him from point blank range . Luckily Sukhbir Badal escaped unharmed as the assailant was overpowered well in time by his Punjab Police gunman.
Yesterday senior Akal leader had sahred details of the attacker Narayan Singh Chaura, the SAD leader said “Chaura is a dreaded militant from whom bombs, a MP-5 machine gun and an AK-47 have been recovered in past”.
However, on December 2, The Sikh clergy at the Akal Takht issued a ‘tankhah’ (religious punishment) for Sukhbir Singh Badal, citing the “mistakes” committed by the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) and its government during the period of 2007 to 2017.
