As per the bad situation due to the rapid spread of coronavirus, the cabinet promulgated an ordinance to reduce the salaries, allowances and pensions of Members of Parliament by 30 % for one year. The decision was communicated by Prakash Javadekar.Main points related to this decision as below.
A) The President, Vice President, Governors,PM & MPs have decided to take a salary 30% cut for a year
B) This fund will go to Consolidated Fund of India,
C) This decision will help to ease the monetary pressure during Covid-19 crisis
The Cabinet also approved the temporary suspension of the MPLAD (Members of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme) Fund during 2020-21 & 2021-22. The consolidated amount of MPLAD Funds for 2 years. Government decision is communicated by union minister Prakash Javadekar in the press briefing.
