CRPF constable arrested with 6.25 kg opium

Special Task Force (STF) team of Ambala police on a clue succeeded in arresting a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) constable Umed Ram originally hailing from Bikaner (Tajasthan} while carrying 6.25 kg opium near Birla Mandir at Kurukshetra along with his companion identified as  Mukesh Kumar resident of Neemach (M.P). Umed was holding identity card issued by CRPF-14.and during preliminary investigation admitted that he joined CRPF in the year 2006 and had friendship with Mukesh where he was posted at present and both decided to smuggle opium from M.P and supply at  Kurukshetra, Ambala and Chandigarh.
During interrogation by  Kulbhushan STF DSP, Umed confessed that his companion was known to wholesale opium supplier and carry in bags travelling in the train and no one ever checked their bags seeing his identity card issued by CRPF. Both admitted used to buy opium at the rate of Rs 1 lakh per kg and selling at the rate Rs 1.55 lakh per kg and earning handsome money with one or two transactions in a month. Kulbhushan told.that they were having information about both smuggling opium since a long times and in-spite of efforts many times failed to arrest them. He said efforts would be made to reach up to main supplier of opium. Both arrested were produced in the court on March 4 and remanded to police custody for 5 days. Kulbhushan told that this is the second case in a week when STF team Ambala has arrested opium suppliers.
