CSIO Awarded Certificate of Merit Technology Award

Central Scientific Instruments Organisation (CSIO), Chandigarh team comprising of Vinod Karar, Ravinder K Sinha, Harry Garg, Divya Agrawal, Surender S. Saini, Sanjay Sharma and Prabhat K. Bhagel has been awarded the Certificate of Merit Technology Award for Physical Sciences including Engineering – 2018 for Aviation Cockpit Display Validation Platform. This award was presented by Dr. Harsh Vardhan, Union minister, Ministry of Science & Technology, Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change and Ministry of Earth Sciences, during the CSIR Foundation Day, 26th September 2018 at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi in the presence of Dr. S.K. Saraswat, member Niti Aayoug and DG CSIR.
Aviation Cockpit Display Validation Platform – ACDVP is a State-of-art technology solution, first-of-its-kind, provides “Optical harmonization, mechanical and electrical/electronic functionality testing and error correction in one single technology package for Optronics Technologies used for defence and strategic application”.
It provides a complete end-to-end solution to perform testing, validation and error correction on Line Replacement Units (LRUs) such as Head Up Display & Multifunction Displays for error correction, testing, pre-flight clearance and post flight analytics and Testing, validation, calibration and pre-installation checks on Gun Sights, Bore Sighting Tool for Laser Ranger & Marked Target Seeker (LRMTS), SPA Payloads, Bore Sight Harmonization Tool, Gun Sights, Optical Sights and Holographic Optical Sights employed in aircraft, tanks, ships, helicopters & military surface vehicles, and ground surveillance equipment like binoculars, thermal imagers, field telescopes and other optical or mechanical instruments being used for application in strategic sectors.. The Comprehensive Technology Package comprise two major technology components: (i) Bore Sighting System – BSS and (ii) Military Avionics Head Up Display Test Platform – MAHTP.
This technology has been transferred to BEL, Panchkula on 16th December 2017. The ACDVP has been used for several optronic equipment used by defence forces such as Head Up Display, Multifunction Displays, Gun Sights, Bore Sighting Tool for Laser Ranger & Marked Target Seeker (LRMTS), SPA Payloads, Bore Sight Harmonization Tool, Gun Sights, Optical Sights, & Holographic Optical Sights employed in aircraft, tanks, ships, helicopters & military surface vehicles.
