AMBALA (SATISH HANDA. Rajya Sabha MP Deepender Singh Hooda said, Haryana state government may have won the trust vote in the Haryana Assembly but it has lost the trust of the people as well as farmers in the state. Addressing the Kisan-Mazdoor Traders Conference he moved a no-confidence motion against the government in a packed public meeting which was unanimously passed by a crowd.

Speaking at the meeting, Deepender said the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party had won all 10 seats in the 2019 Lok Sabha election but even their ministers are unable to enter many villages in the state and added that the ruling party must introspect why this situation has come up? “People who are afraid of going public in democratic system, have the right to remain in power even one day,” he said.

MP Deepender Hooda said the environment in the state has changed from hope to despair as every section of the state is feeling cheated and betrayed which is a sharp contrast over the 10 years of Congress rule. “Every section was happy during the 10-year rule of the Congress’s Hooda government. At that time, the farmer was debt free because due to the good rates of crops and agricultural workers also got good wages. Safes of small businessman were full of currency notes but now, they don’t even have coins in it. During our government, the farmer used to sell his crop and came home with pockets filled with money, today the same farmer is coming back home empty pockets from the markets,” he said.

Deepender said farmers and laborers have been protesting peacefully on roads for the last 4 months. “They are suffering but are not making anyone suffer. Negotiations between the government and the farmers have been closed for more than 2 months. The government is not ready to give up its stubborn attitude. I urge the government to understand the seriousness of the situation and talk to the farmers immediately and agree to their demands to end the deadlock. The solution to this problem will not come from lathi-charge, but only through talks with farmers,”.

The CWC member lauded the discipline and patience of the farmers and said no one has seen such a peaceful and disciplined movement after the independence of the country. “In four months, more than 300 dead bodies have returned to our villages, but still the farmers have not lost their restraint, they have not broken their discipline. Those in government are constantly abusing them, insulting their struggle and sacrifice. When I urged the government to express their condolences to the families of the farmers in Parliament, the government did not even consider it, blinded by strength of their majority,” Deepender said.

On the instruction of Bhupinder Singh Hooda, Leader of Opposition in Haryana, the Congress Legislature Party has personally provided Rs 2 lakh in aid to the family of every farmer who sacrificed his life in the farmer’s movement. Every family who sacrificed their lives in the movement will be given financial help and government jobs as soon as the Congress government is formed in the state,” he reiterated.

Haryana’s lone Opposition MP said the government should take back all the three laws and give legal guarantee to the MSP. “The government made many promises earlier too but did not fulfil them, which is why the farmers don’t trust the government. “No government gets small by accepting the will of its people. Government should listen to farmers by giving up obstinate attitude as history is full of examples on how the mightiest empires who were blinded by their false pride, have come crashing down. We will continue to fight for the rights of the farmers from the road to the Parliament, from every chaupal to the Vidhan Sabha,” he said.

D eepender expressed concern over the economic condition of the state due to the complete failure of the government, industry and trade are migrating from Haryana. “The real concern is that there is no reason why the unemployment rate in the state of Haryana is the highest in the country. The state has surrounded Delhi on three sides. In 2012-13, Haryana was ranked number one in the country in per capita investment and was number one in employment as it had the highest economic growth, investment was taking place in Haryana,” he said.

People from far off regions used to come and work in the factories of Haryana but today, Haryana has more unemployment than UP and Bihar. The investment climate in this government has deteriorated to a point where that factories in industrial areas like Gurgaon, Rohtak, Bawal, Faridabad and others are migrating out of the state, instead of coming. This situation is very worrying about the future of Haryana,” Deepender said.
