Demand to lift ban over export of rice other than ‘Basmati’: Bajrang Garg

Chief General Secretary of All India Vyapar Mandal as well as  President of Haryana Vyapar Mandal, Bajrang Garg has demanded immediate action by Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar to take up matter with Union Government for withdrawal of ban over export of rice other than ‘Basmati’ which is causing heavy loss to the farmers as well as rice exporters in the state. Garg said, a similar ban over rice other than ‘Basmati’ was imposed  earlier also in 2008 when UPA was ruling in the country as well as Haryana   and then chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda had taken up matter with the government in centre and the decision about ban over export of non-basmati rice was immediately rolled back.

Garg said that  non-basmati rice  is in much demand in a large number of countries across the world including  Sri-lanka,Italy, Thailand, , Spane, Nepal, China, Africa, USA and Europe. He said, due to the ban over export on non-basmati rice causing heavy loss to the farmers, rice millers and the traders in the state. Garg said that due delayed procurement of paddy crops by the government every year the traders used to purchase paddy from the farmers directly and sell in domestic as well as export markets after milling as a result not only traders but also farmers were able to  earn handsome amount, also bringing reasonable profits to the farmers.
