Doctor arrested while taking Rs 2 lakh bribe, 2 absconding

Panipat: Anti corruption bureau (ACB) team booked three persons: Dr Pawan Kumar and Naveen Kumar sought the bribe through Dr Vishal Malik in a case registered in Karnal. The doctor working at a private hospital in Haryana’s Panipat was arrested on charges of taking a Rs 2 lakh bribe from a person who owns a diagnostic centre. Another doctor and a clerk both posted at Panipat’s civil hospital were also booked by ACB team in the same case. Haryana’s Anti Corruption Bureau, while probing a complaint, arrested Dr Vishal Malik while accepting the bribe. Giving details about the accused, a spokesperson of the ACB said Dr Kumar and Naveen had inspected an Imaging and Diagnostic Centre being run by the complainant in this case. During the inspection, both demanded a bribe of Rs 2 lakh through Dr Vikas Malik from the complainant for not registering an FIR against him over certain anomalies found at the diagnostic centre.

The complainant made a complaint with the ACB and a team was deputed to catch the accused when Dr. Vikas Malik was nabbed red-handed while taking the  bribe of Rs 2 lakh, which was to be delivered to Dr Pawan Kumar and Naveen Kumar,a clerk. According to information, Dr. Malik was taken into custody at the spot by ACB team, whereas the other two are absconding and yet to be arrested. The entire action of the ACB was carried out with the transparency and in the presence of the witnesses, the spokesperson made an appeal, if any officer or employee demands a bribe in lieu of doing some government work, people should immediately inform the Haryana Anti-Corruption Bureau on its toll-free number -1800-180-2022 or 1064. Information reveals that PNDT Nodal officer and a clerk of government hospital were threatening the doctor of Imaging & Diagnostic Centre at Barsat Road Panipat to seal it and involve him in a pre-natal sex determination case demanding money to be given by middleman Dr Vishal Malik running a private hospital.
