Drone infiltration from Pakistan doubled in 2022: DG BSF

About 266 attempts of drone infiltration have been made by Pakistan so far this year in Punjab and Jammu and Kashmir which is more than double the number recorded last year, Director General of Border Security Force (BSF) Pankaj Singh said. 

Singh said at a programme in New Delhi  that the BSF identified 79 incidents of drones flying in 2020 and the number and the number of incidents increased to 109 in 2021.

Singh added that 215 and 22 cases of drone infiltration were reported along Punjab border and Jammu respectively. 

He also revealed an increase in the smuggling of narcotics, arms and ammunition, counterfeit notes etc. across the border through drones.

“The BSF is vigilant and has successfully shot down many such drones,”, Singh said.
