Drug smuggler arrested with 1 kg 150 gm opium at Ambala

Crime Investigation Agency of Ambala police on a clue arrested a drug smuggler identified as Ram Avtar a resident of village Kotha in Badaun district (U.P) carrying 1 kg 150 gm opium for sale at Ambala City. SP Ambala Jashandeep Singh Randhawa told media persons that police team led by Inspector Harjinder Singh while patrolling near Kalka Chowk on the national highway No. 1 at Ambala City got information that a man carrying drugs is searching customer near Hari Palace theatre Ambala City when police team started search at Hari Palace Road and saw a person coming from Deha Colony side which is a drug retail supply centre in Ambala City. When searched police team recovered opium from bag he was carrying.

Ram Avtar was arrested by police and a case under sections 18-61-1985 of NDPS Act was registered against him. Arrested accuse was produced in the court on November 3 and remanded to police custody for five days. During preliminary investigation he admitted brought opium from U.P for sale in Ambala City and was in search of a customer at Deha Colony known as a retail sale centre of drugs in the town. Randhawa told that with effect from January 1, 2022 Ambala police has arrested 137 persons in illegal drugs smuggling business and registered 113 cases under NDPS Act so far and recovered from them  4 kg 95 gm heroine, 15 kg opium, 223 gm charas, 3.82 quintal poppu husk, 7 kg 911 gm ganja, 64664 intoxicated tablets, 9824 intoxicated capsules and 1950 intoxicated injections . He told that about a week ago huge stocks of drugs seized in various police raids from drug smugglers in Ambala police range were destroyed at Ambala.
