Drugs smuggling, snatching cases worry Ambala police

Increasing cases of drug smuggling and snatching cases reported at twin city are major problems before Ambala police. In-spite of tall claims by police administration, law and order worsening in the area.Youths are addicting to drugs being smuggled from adjoining states especially Punjab.

Earlier youths in Punjab were being addicted to drugs and now youths in Haryana state, too, are becoming fast addicted to drugs.

According to Ambala police date, during the year 2018 Ambala police registered 120 cases under NDPS Act and more than 130 persons involved in smuggling drugs were arrested by the police. Information reveals that with effect from January 1 till October 31, 2018 Ambala police had recovered nearly 1.40 quintal poppy husk,  about 6 kg opium, 811 gm charas, about 302 gm smack, about 43 kg ganja, 13 kg sulfa, 300 gm brown sugar, 26875 intoxicated tablets, 19858 intoxicated capsules 647 intoxicated injections.

According to information, drugs are being smuggled to Ambala from Punjab, U.P and Bihar in trains.

The situation turns grim due to 7 cases of drug smuggling registered in the first week of current year 2019 and cases under NDPS Act were registered by several police stations. Similarly, Ambala police registered 15 snatching cases by the youths on motorcycles in first two weeks on year 2019 in which females from whom purses were snatched were victims.

In spite of all efforts, local police have failed to arrest bike snatchers involved in record number of snatching cases reported in 2018. Aastha Modi SP Ambala admitted increased number of drug smuggling and snatching cases reported in past and told that special teams are being constituted to curb drug smuggling and snatching cases.

She told that large number of CCTV cameras are being installed at prominent places in twin city Ambala during current year to keep an eye on the snatchers.
