New Delhi : The Election Commission cited various judgments and legal provisions to warn Kejriwal that he can face up to three years of imprisonment if his claims are found to be misleading people. The Election Commission has sought proof from the Arvind Kejriwal led Aam Aadmi Party of their claims that Haryana was poisoning the water of Yamuna river by dumping industrial waste into it. Kejriwal and Delhi Chief Minister Atishi have blamed Haryana government mixing poison in the river water to disrupt water supply to the national capital to cause harm to the residents of Delhi mixing poison in the river water. Haryana CM Naib Singh Saini threatened defamation suit over water terrorism remarks by Kejriwal and chief minister Atishi.

The poll body has asked Kejriwal to submit his response by 8 pm on Wednesday regarding his comments over water terrorism by Haryana and warned Kejriwal about various judgments and legal provisions liable to face up to three years of imprisonment if his claims are found to be misleading. According to the commission, such allegations may have serious effects to create enmity between the regional groups, residents of neighbouring states and is a threat to law and order situation. Before this the poll panel had directed the Haryana government to submit a factual report by January 28 to Kejriwal’s allegations of increased ammonia in the water supplied from Haryana to Delhi. Meanwhile, sources reveal Haryana CM Naib Singh Saini is planning to file a defamation suit against Kejriwal, demanding he should immediately apologise to the people of Haryana and Delhi for his nasty statement, failing which a defamation suit will be filed against him.

Saini said the people of Haryana consider Yamuna as a holy river and worship it, raising a question: why would the people of Haryana mix poison in the river water? further asking the AAP government to inspect water quality near Delhi’s gateway at Sonipat by senior officers of the rank of Chief Engineer.  Meanwhile, Kejriwal said the Haryana government should not try to scare them, threatening to file a case and do it, adding that “You have already sent us to jail, will you now pronounce the death sentence also? Better file a case and make the residents of Delhi drink poison, but I will not let the people of Delhi die,” said Kejriwal. Information reveals, the CEO of Delhi Jal Board, wrote to the Chief Secretary and said that Kejriwal’s statements are factually incorrect, could lead to fear-mongering among Delhi residents. Information also reveals, Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena has also written to CM Atishi stating, “Making false, misleading, non-factual accusations of poisoning and genocide over a sensitive issue like drinking water and attempting to incite the public against another state government is not only a threat to the states involved, but also to national peace and security.”

Meanwhile, a group of senior BJP political leaders of Sonipat led by the former Media Advisor to Haryana CM Rajiv Jain and BJP district president Jasbir Dodwa took water from the Yamuna river flowing near village Dahisar. Jain said that Delhi government has not taken steps to clean river water flowing inside Delhi in which a large number of drains containing polluted water released from the industries as well as sewerages is being thrown since the past 10 years, playing with the life of innocent Delhi residents.
