Electricity department  employee identified as mastermind of of gang stolen 70 transformers

A search by Matloda police station in Panipat district on a clue busted a gang of five persons allegedly involved in stolen 70 electric transformers in the state installed by the Haryana State Electricity Board which included 53 transformers stolen in Panipat district, 14 transformers stolen in Karnal district and three transformers stolen in Jind district in past 19 months. The arrested accused during preliminary investigation admitted crime and were identified as Varinder alias Kala a resident of village  Kavi in Sonipat district employed with Haryana State Electricity Board who was the kingpin of the gang and admitted crime due to earning huge money. Among other four arrested accused were Naveen, Vipin both residents of Matloda, Vikram originally hailing from Nepal and presently residing at Matloda and Mahavir a resident of village Kavi.

The prime accused Varinder said that they used to bring out coils from stolen transformers and sell to Rishi Pal of Matloda running a disposal goods business. He disclosed that he was also running an electric store in the name of Shiv Electricals at Matloda as an eyewash. Police also recovered a scooty, a motorcycle and Rs 6000 from Varinder alias Kala. A case was registered against all five members of the gang with the  police where they admitted involvement in the large number of thefts of electric transformers mostly stolen from agriculture fields during night hours. All arrested were sent to  judicial remand at Sonipat jail.
