Naraingarh ( Ambala):  People attacked the electricity department team that had gone to catch electricity theft in village Ferozepur Kath on the outskirts of the village in Ambala district. Electricity department’s Junior Engineer (JE) Sunil Kumar and the area in-charge Ravi were attacked, severely beaten with ‘lathees’ and sustained injuries in the attack and were brought to the hospital for treatment, where both were discharged after the treatment from the hospital. SDO of the electricity department Dilip Singh said that the team members saved their lives with great difficulty and a case was registered with police. JE said that as soon as the department’s team started taking action, people got angry and some of the residents Liaquat Ali, Yasin, Shukardin, Mustakim, Neki Mohammad and others arrived and started creating a ruckus.

When JE Sunil Kumar of the electricity department started going to the roof using the stairs to check illegal electricity conncection, the accused pushed him and made him fall down the stairs and started beating them. The team members somehow escaped and saved their lives. However, both Sunil Kumar JE and Ravi were surrounded by angry people and attacked with ‘lathees’ and got injured. Seeing the situation getting worse, the officials and employees of the electricity department left the spot. Somehow the team saved their lives by running away from the spot. The injured were brought to Naraingarh Government Hospital with the help of an ambulance. The police reached the spot on getting a complaint and handled the situation. The employees also made a video while running away from the spot, which was handed over to the police.

SDO of the Electricity Department Dilip Singh said that the team had gone to Ferozepur Kath on a complaint of electricity theft to take action in the case of electricity theft. The team included JE Sunil Kumar, Area Incharge Ravi, Pushp Sharma, ALM Deepak, Driver Chanpreet and other employees. As soon as the team started going to the roof of the house, people attacked them. The team members, however, managed to flee and saved their lives. A video of the incident was also prepared by the team members.
