An ex-serviceman Bhushan Kumar (45) along with his three companions was arrested on Monday for allegedly killed and attempted to burn their bodies of six members of his family after the murder on Sunday night, including his mother and his six months old nephew over a land dispute in village Rataur in Naraingarh sub division of Ambala district of Haryana on Monday. He along with his three aides.
The deceased were identified as the accused’s mother Saropi Devi (65), brother Harish Kumar (35), sister-in-law Sonia (32), two nieces Pari & Yashika (age 7 and 5) and six-month-old nephew Mayank. Among the victims, five died on the spot, whereas one of the nieces succumbed to her injuries at PGI in Chandigarh, the police officer said. The ex-serviceman’s father Om Prakash (68) was also seriously injured in the incident and rushed to the Civil Hospital Naraingarh from where referred to government hospital undergoing treatment at the Government Medical College & Hospital in Sector 32, Chandigarh, police said that a dispute over two-acre land between Bhushan and his brother Harish led to the incident.
However, on getting information, police reached the spot and recovered the half-burnt bodies. The retired soldier managed to flee from the spot but was rounded up by the police later. On receiving the information, Ambala SP Surendra Singh Bhauria reached the spot at 3 am. The bodies were shifted to the Civil Hospital, Ambala Cantonment for post-mortem. According to Om Prakash, the crime was over a dispute over two acres of land.
