Explosion  in illegal cracker unit in Amritsar

Amritsar, September 2 – Powerful explosion in the illegal cracker unit resulting in seven injured including one lady.

Confirming the incident here today, police said that incident occurred last evening in the illegal cracker unit being run in the rented house at village Nagal Guru falling in the Jandiala town nearly 25 kilometers away from the Amritsar city.

Police said that the reason the explosion was found during the initial probe was excessive storage of ingredients including POTASH being used to prepare the high destiny crackers. Police said that the huge illegal storage of explosive material in the house caught fire   and caused an explosion that created a deafening sound, heard in the one kilometer radius area of the village.

On being asked the owner of the rented house, Kuldeep Kaur (lady) who expressed ignorance about the illegal activities being run inside the house, said police adding that she came to know after the blast which damaged all the walls of the building. Police said that further investigation was underway and all the injured have been admitted in the Government run hospital in Amritsar.
