According to a report, huge quantity of fake dairy cheese (Paneer) being illegally manufactured at several places in Mewat area in Haryana since a long time is being supplied in Delhi, NCR and several nearby Haryana districts including Gurugram, Faridabad, Sonipat, Panipat, Noida in U.P and few other places in adjoining area. According to health experts, fake dairy cheese is prepared by mixing harmful ingredients in dry skimmed milk powder, which including shampoo and detergent, hydrogen per-oxide, melamine and palmolein oil is very harmful for human health and may cause serious diseases like cancer.
According to the worker of a small scale manufacturing unit in Hathern manufacturing fake dairy cheese who refused to disclose his identity, each kilogram of dairy cheese prepared with the harmful ingredients costs about Rs 80 each kg and being sold by the manufacturers in the market at the price ranging between Rs 150 to 200 per kilogram. Information also revealed that manufacturers prepare fake dairy cheese by mixing palmolein oil and water in dry milk powder, adding to it chemicals including hydrogen per-oxide and melamine to break skimmed milk, further adding to it detergent and hydrogen per-oxide to produce foam. The mixture is then boiled, followed by cooling and preparing dairy cheese from a thick mixture.
To check if the dairy cheese is pure, put a few drops of iodine on it, in case the colour of the dairy milk changes slightly blue, be sure the same is adulterated. There is also another method to check purity of dairy cheese. Rub a piece of dairy cheese on your hand, rubbing it with fingers of other hand, in case it breaks into small pieces and spreads on the hand, be sure the same is adulterated since the skimmed milk powder cannot bear pressure and break in pieces.
