Joint teams of health department Kaithal comprising of Dr Gaurav Poonia, PNDT Nodal Officer, Dr S.K. Jain, Dr Rajesh Kumar and health department Hisar comprising of Dr Anil Ahuja, Dr Anita Bansal and Dr Suresh Choudhary Drug Control Officer on a information conducted a raid at Jai Durge Hospital on Hansi Road Barwala in Haryana and arrested Dr Naresh Sharma Gorakhpuria red handed allegedly involved in prenatal sex determination of a fake pregnant woman an Asha Worker prepared by the health department Kaithal who was called at around 11 AM on July 15 for sex determination of child in her womb after depositing amount worth Rs 40000 in his bank account. Accordingly, the amount was transferred in doctor’s bank account and pregnant woman was taken to a dark room for ultrasound test according to appointment. After examination, doctor congratulated pregnant woman that she was carrying a male child demanding Rs 2100 towards ‘shagoon’ to distribute sweets.
The visiting team conducted surprise raid at the same time and carried out investigation for nearly seven hours checking hospital records. When team asked Dr Gorakhpuria to produce his medical degree, he failed to submit any document in support of his medical qualification and registration of hospital. A case was registered with police arrested fake doctor conducted prenatal sex determination of unborn child illegally. He was also asked to refund amount worth Rs 40000 transferred in his bank account. However, a youth wearing face mask took away ultrasound machine in the meantime and managed to flee. Dr Gorakhpuria was produced in the court on July 16 and remanded to police custody for two days.
