During a survey conducted by State Excise & Taxation Department Haryana, out of total number of newly registered 1,13,590 firms in the state 16967 registered firms could not be traced out, of them registration of 12314 firms was cancelled and vigilance teams recovered tax of amount worth Rs 6312 crore along with Rs 38.72 crore fine from 4325 defaulter firms. Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khatter directed concerned officials to take stern action against those involved in GST frauds, register cases against them and cancel their GST registration immediately.
According to information, GST registration is essential for all those firms having annual turn over Rs 40 lakh. Chief Minister directed Excise & Taxation Department to hold state wide survey in this regard and take action against tax evaders. Sanjeev Kaushal Additional Chief Secretary Excise & Taxation Department told media persons that there were 2.25 tax payers in the state when VAT was applicable in the state and the number of firms registered under GST has now grown to 4.48 lakh at present from them Haryana state government collected revenue worth Rs 1262 crore this year. The department was able to detect 2058 fake GST transaction cases and recovered amount worth Rs 262.49 crore from defaulters. Excise & Taxation Department was also able to identify 4134 fake E-bills and collected amount worth Rs 451.75 crore from defaulters.
According to data available in Haryana state government records, 30.54% increase in collection of GST in the state from July to October this year has been recorded amounting to Rs 6930 crore, which is highest as compared to all other states across the country. There are 6160 GST payers in the state from them government earns nearly 80% revenue. According to information, Rs 4602.56 crore GST was collected every month during the year 2018-19 as against total collection worth Rs.55231crore in the state. Information reveals, per capita GST collection in Haryana state has been recorded over Rs 21744 as against per capita national collection over Rs 9370 which is nearly two and half times higher in the state as compared to national collection.
Information also reveals that in most of the cases of GST frauds in Haryana state it was observed that the number of firms dealing in cotton, iron & steel, sports goods, tobacco products and cigarettes involved in GST fraud was highest. Recently, police registered a case under section CGST Act 2017 and arrested Deepak Mittal of DK Enterprises Delhi and Ankur Garg of Garg Enterprises Hansi running a chain of firms and raised large number of fake bill of value worth crores of rupees. Not only this large number of GST fraud cases hitting headlines in the newspaper every now and then.
