First Session of the New Parliament “Naya Sansad” begins, old Parliament is now  Samvidhan Sadan

New Delhi: Parliament’s Special Session have started in the New Parliament Building from today. The first session of the Special Parliament Session announced last month started yesterday (18-22 september). It was held at the old building, where both the houses ,Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha discussed the 75 years of parliament’s journey since independence.  Before the start of the five day special session, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the Parliament in the old building yesterday. In an emotional tone, he recollected the contributions and memories of the old Presidents and the Prime Ministers including Jawaharlal Nehru, Manmohan Singh, Atal Bihari Vajpee and others.  He acknowledged First Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru and his cabinet members. For India’s First Law Minister B R Ambedkar, Modi said “ Ambedkar sought to  imbibe the best practices of the world and came out  with a historic factory Act and  water policy. First Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru’s speech of the midnight hour will also remain an inspiration for us, he added. Recollecting the speeches of Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee,Modi said “ Atal ji always said “Governments will come and go but the country will remain forever.”

During his 80 minutes speech Modi also said “ We might shift to the new building but this building will keep inspiring the new generations and will remain as a golden chapter of the Indian Democracy. He also proposed to name the old parliament building as “samvidhan sadan” Prime Minister Modi also talked about women participation in the country. The cabinet has already given approval for the much awaited Women Reservation Bill and it is likely to discussed in Lok sabha tomorrow.

Before shifting to the New parliament members of Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha  gathered for a group photograph which was followed by a function in the Central hall of old building. Before leading the fellow MPs to the new Building Modi said “ It is a historic day”. The old Building will now become a Museum.  The MPs received a special hamper which includes a copy of the Constitution of India and a commerorative coin which features the new parliament and a stamp.
